Spanish term

ruptura

Spanish to English Social Sciences Psychology music
This is from a study on how music can influence mood. Ths same composition is edited into various styles and then listeners rate the music for different emotions. I have found some evidence for this being "violation" in English but am far from sure:

Any help much appreciated.

discontinuity

I don't disagree with "break", but I think "discontinuity" is more elegant in this context, which is about not just the rhythm of the music but also the emotions it provokes.
