Uniform
When conducting gate checks, it is recommended that border guards be in uniform in order to avoid confusion among passengers.
Nevertheless, a gate check can be supported by plain-clothes officers if there is a need for additional surveillance: this may arise in the case of travellers identified in advance (e.g. on the passenger list) with the profile of potential facilitators, traffickers, terrorists or any passengers that may be subject to discrete surveillance.
The uniformed officers/ team will be tasked with identifying them and informing the surveillance team.
