Wavelength accuracy should be verified as per any applicable instrument operating procedures.
Power on the infrared spectrometer and the associated instrument control/data collection PC, start the instrument control/data collection software, and load any appropriate configuration and/or experiment files.
Bring up the instrument configuration and data collection utility within the instrument control software (if available).
Confirm that the infrared interferogram observed is symmetrical and centered within the display window.
Confirm that the min/max values and/or peak to peak values are within the acceptable range for the specified gain setting.
If these values are outside of the acceptable range, or if the infrared *interferogram is not correctly aligned*, either reset the instrument bench or perform a full bench alignment as needed.
If after a full bench alignment the infrared interferogram cannot be successfully aligned, or the desired min/max and/or peak to peak values can not be obtained, place a service call to the instrument vendor.
