Fecha Control

Spanish to English Other Automotive / Cars & Trucks Driver\'s Licence
This is on the front of a driver's licence (Chile), going into British English. Is it 'date of last control/check'? Isn't there usually an issue date and validity date?

Discussion

bigedsenior Aug 25, 2016:
Chle has an extremely extensive license requirements that can include physical as well as psychological testing. I do not think it unusual for a written and visual test to be required for renewal, as is the case in California, particl;arly past a certain age. https://www.leychile.cl/Navegar?idNorma=10426

Date of last test, Test date

On wordreference, a Chilean has posted:

"Fecha de último control" is the date of the last approved test; "fecha de control" is the date of the next test'

I hope this helps

agree bigedsenior : it might only be a written test, not necessarily a driving test

Check date

= Service date / Control date (the latter is least 'correct' IMO...)

I am reluctant to disagree/neutralise Emma, especially as Chile is a world of its own - but I don't think you need to pass a test to renew your driving licence. In Spain, at least, it's simply a formality... Unless of course you lose it and need to reset a driving test. I may be wrong.

Resit, not reset. My bad.
Note from asker:
Might is also be 'inspection'?

Renewal Date

I don't wish to disagree with anyone but I think it refers to the date the licence is renewed.

When you renew ('renovar') your driving licence in Spain, you have to undergo a series of tests. Doctors ask you a few health-related question and then they check your eyesight, reflexes, blood pressure, etc. You don't have to drive at all.

The whole business costs around €70!

It's the same as in Spain, except that in Spain you don't have to do a theory test, unless, as Neil rightly mentions, your licence is revoked.

If you think it's necessary to include the exam, then maybe 'Renewal Test Date' would be more appropriate.

The last time I renewed my licence I had to read all the letters on the chart, including the ones on the bottom row!
