Spanish term

colegios apostólicos

Spanish to English Art/Literary Religion
This is from a general interest text on the Way of St. James (Spain). This section is talking about depictions of St. James along the Camino, specifically, at Santo Domingo de Silos.

"En primer lugar, en los colegios apostólicos de las lastras de la Duda de Tomás (NW) y Pentecostés (SE), Santiago el Mayor aparece acompañado del título IACOBVS FRATER DOMINI (Santiago, el hermano del Señor), en directa referencia a su “hermandad” con Cristo ..."

I know that there are "apostolic schools" but I'm wondering if perhaps "apostolic lessons" would be a better rendering. Or some other less literal suggestion?

You can see the pieces on the Wikipedia page for Santo Domingo de Silo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbey_of_Santo_Domingo_de_Silo...

Many thanks in advance!

Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : I think I'd say "depictions of the twelve apostles", since this is intended for a general readership and most people won't know what an apostolic college is.
