Spanish term

contra capacidad

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Manufacturing
I'm translating several short documents about custom developments for a procurement software program. This phrase crops up a few times, but never with much context around it:

Your input is most welcome. Thanks!

Aha So, according to the client, they just mean the inventory stays at capacity, i.e. whenever a product is sold, a replacement is automatically ordered.
Laurel Clausen (asker) Jun 12, 2016:
As compared to sales forecasting It looks like planning happens either based on sales forecasts or "contra capacidad" - if that helps!
Laurel Clausen (asker) Jun 12, 2016:
I agree, but... I totally agree about asking the client. Unfortunately, I only started the job on Friday and it's due Monday morning (in Europe, no less), so I fully plan to ask but I need to put something in my delivery today, explaining that it may need to be adjusted. Trying to find the best guess here! So far, I'm leaning toward Phil's "at capacity".
telefpro Jun 12, 2016:
It would be profitable to ask the client.
philgoddard Jun 12, 2016:
Hi Laurel I wonder if "contra" could mean "at" or "close to". The DRAE says it's a synonym of "enfrente" and "hacia", meaning opposite, in front of or towards.
Alternatively, it could be a company's internal terminology, in which case none of us is going to guess it and it's worth asking the customer.
Laurel Clausen (asker) Jun 12, 2016:
Not sure Elsewhere in the text, there are specific references to "stock minimo / maximo". But along your thinking, would you call these "minimum-stock products"?
bigedsenior Jun 12, 2016:
It appears that this is an inventory control program. These programs have a minimum stock level repurchase point and a maximum restocking level. 'Contra capacidad' could refer to the minimum stock level.

I think the key to this is MRP. (manufacturing Resource Plannning)
Lead times are a critical factor in manufacturing as I learned in managing inventory and planning production for a cosmetics factory in Madrid (prior to the Eurozone). For example, local components, bottles, caps, common ingredients might take several days to 2 weeks. Components sourced from outside the country could take up to six months or more, much of the time was taken in snails-pace delays at customs.
