standing throw I'm starting to like Axel's "standing throw". But more surrounding context would help.

Robert: Definitions of Schlagwurf and of standing throw state that both feet must be on the ground. Try google images in both languages too.

My Vienna handball-juniors son - coincidentally back from a handball match after I had posted my first stab - confirmed Cilian's unposted translation, so I'm repostingl with lip service paid to the schlagartig*

Textbook explanation:

'Variationen im Anlauf, bei der Wurfrichtung, Abwurfhöhe (über kopfhoch, hopfhoch und hüfthoch > 'shooting from the hip'), in der Spielposition und mit Stemmschritt (volley shot):

So wird's gemacht:

Du läufst schräg zum Ziel und im Laufen (on the volley) wird der Ball gefangen.
Während des Fangens führst den Ball mit beiden Händen nach hinten.
...........
*Schlagartig wird der Ball nach vorn geworfen.....'
