You really needed to post "mise en cause de la responsabilité" as the header term. Liability is "la responsabilité", the "mise en cause" is the invoking of that liability.

: This would work if the liability had been determined. The original describes a situation where a claim is being made as X believes Y is liable. He who asserts must prove; "mettre en c. la responsabilité de qlqn" = assertion but not yet proved.
