English term

logging activity

English to Spanish Tech/Engineering Petroleum Eng/Sci Gas pipelines
Hola, necesito aclarar qué significa "logging activity" en un contexto de gasoductos, en un instructivo para patrullaje de tuberías.

"Pipeline Identification. Take notice of damaged or unreadable pipeline identification or the need for additional markers.
Other Concerns:
• Leaks
• Logging activity
• Invasive vegetation
• Construction activity
• Evidence of encroachment
• any factors affecting safety and operation of the pipeline"

¡Gracias!

Discussion

Maria Eugenia Perez Mar 12, 2016:
The document is about patrolling the pipelines (patrullaje de tuberías). These lines (gasoductos) can extend for kilometers in vegetated areas connecting industrial facilities miles away. The patrolling includes checking the mechanical integrity of the pipeline (leaks), and other concerns like "Invasive vegetation", which puts it in the context of pipes being surrounded by vegetation.

agree Robert Carter : You're right in my opinion Maria, this does refer to trees.

Thank you, Robert.
agree patinba : The context refers to "concerns" i.e. negative or harmful factors affecting the pipeline. This would never be used to refer to mere "recordings in a log"

Thank you. I think the same.
agree Constanza Toro : ¡Gracias Robert! Tenés razón, se refiere a la tala de árboles [Click here to delete your comment]

agree Robert Carter : I disagree with the disagreers, this does appear to be about wood, the next line is "invasive vegetation".

Muchas gracias, Robert!
agree patinba : And I agree with Robert too, based on the context.// Clearly, as the last item states, this is a list of "factors affecting safety and operation of the pipeline"
