Italian term

gambale

Italian to English Medical Medical: Cardiology
First, the Endurant II endoprosthesis was installed .... then....

"Successive PTA della porzione più distale del gambale sinistro dell’endoprotesi aorto bisiliaca per stenosi"

No idea how to translate this term. Stump? for an endoprosthesis?

end

Normally "gambale" means a cuff, as per the link posted.

I imagine in this context they simply mean the end of the prosthesis.

"Forceps after repositioning. Endoprosthesis pulled back so its proximal end (arrow) is points to tumor encroachment at proximal end of endoprosthesis."

the most distal part of the left limb of the aorto-bi-iliac stent graft (or bifurcated stent graft)

Please, see Ref.1, 3.1: "The main types of endovascular stent–grafts are: aortic tube grafts (no longer used in the UK), aorto-uni-iliac grafts and aorto-bi-iliac (bifurcated) grafts (the latter are most commonly used in the UK)." https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ta167/chapter/3-the-technol...

Please see Ref.2: "graft limb occlusion" https://books.google.se/books?id=4kn1oYMhgLAC&pg=PA183&lpg=P...

Peer comment(s):

agree JudyC : I would also go for "limb". Translating it as "end" produces "the distal end of the left end" !?
