English term

from filing.

Non-PRO English to French Other Journalism
It is about the war in Irak.

“Something’s happening outside...the skies over Baghdad have been illuminated”, CNN anchor Bernie Shaw urgently intoned as our live audio broadcast started, and we watched explosions from our 9th floor windows.A strike destroyed the telecommunications tower, cutting lines to the outside word, stopping journalists from filing.

Discussion

Tony M Jan 20, 2016:
Parsing As the answerers have realized, your parsing is really not helpful here, since the terms are really 'stopping from' and 'filing' — the collocation 'from filing' is purely fortuitous and to a large extent meaningless if considered in isolation.

Merci Adrien!
neutral Tony M : In the example cited, that is simply translating 'to send', not 'to file', which means 'to send in / submit'

In the example provided 'transmettre' and 'envoyer' are used.

d'accomplir.

accomplir les diligences ... and filing requirements with regard to the Credit Institutions and Investment Firms ... de toutes les commandes requises pour accomplir sa mission efficacement
Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : In journalism, you "file a story", which means to submit it to the editorial office for publication; this isn't really the same as 'accomplir' / Not in EN it isn't!

filing is "accomplishing"
