S3 2003 - abbreviation

French to English Bus/Financial Telecom(munications) abbreviation
In a document I am translating it refers to S2 & S3 for various years. I assumed it meant quarter or period but I'd love to know what the abbreviation is actually of. Any ideas?

example: c’est dans ce contexte que fut initié, au S2 2003, en tant que contribution au Plan Top, le Chantier Revenue Assurance,

It would be helpful ... ... if Asker were to come back and clarify whether the source text says "S3 2003" (as in the header) or "S2 2003" (as in the body of the question).

Q3 2003

For some reason, "semestre" seems to be sometimes used in French instead of "quarters", especially when tracking the evolution of prices:

I'm assuming the body of Asker's question "S2 2003" is what actually appears in the ST, and that "S3 2003" in the question header is an error.

H2= second half-year
