Tras un comienzo fulgurante, el año 1776 mostraba sus primeras intenciones en forma de cartas de tu padre.
A mitad de febrero llegó la primera de ese año.
A little girl has just been born, unbeknowst to her father, who is off fighting in the Revolutionary War. He writes to his wife about the fighting on the front and his desire to come back home.
Not too terribly comfortable with the literal rendition in this case.
