French term

panseuse

French to English Medical Medical: Health Care Nursing
This is also from a short video about nurses in an operating suite.
Obviously refers to the nurse who dresses the wound after surgery, in the operating suite.

Many thanks in advance.

From the horse's mouth

To: Asker Have you seen this: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/french_to_english/medical/416674-p... ?
You may have missed it because of the wrong spelling.
Idna (asker) Jul 29, 2015:
Of course! There are always many typos in this type of transcription.
AbrahamS Jul 29, 2015:
It is actually spelled "panseuse", from "panser" = "bandage wounds".

Peer comment(s):

agree writeaway : if the doctor was also a certain ace Fr-En med translator who used to participate in Kudoz, then yes, this would indeed be the definitve answer

Thank you writeaway :-)
agree patrickfor : this translation looks like the french "circulante", another name for "panseuse"

Thank you Patrick :-)

Thank you Gallagy :-)
neutral philgoddard : "According to a doctor I worked with" is not a very impressive reference. It's a senior nurse in the operating room, and these terms are not set in stone.

French term (edited): penseuse

panseuse = chief operating room nurse

It's a typo.
Peer comment(s):

agree Steffen Walter : Too much thinking involved when the author wrote the source text ;-)

agree Charles Davis : Specifically instrument nurse, commonly known as scrub nurse, as far as I can tell

Yes, different hospitals appear to have different names for the same job. Rachel's suggestion is another alternative.
