remaillage

français vers anglais Marketing Textiles / vêtements / mode knitwear
This is from the lookbook of an up-market ready-to-wear fashion house, it is very definitely nothing to do with mending.

LES CACHEMIRES
Toujours travaillés avec notre adn, ils sont fait sur des points de riz, comportent de nombreux remaillages.

Any thoughts??

Discussion

Jane Phillips (asker) Jun 19, 2015:
Having looked at it I agree that this is 'grafting' - shows the depth of my knowledge in things knitwear! So many thanks to Petitavoine and if you'd like to submit it as an answer I'll award the points.

As ever many thanks to everyone who contributed, much appreciated!

Agree with Petitavoine
Jocelyne Cuenin Jun 19, 2015:
Il peut s'agir tout simplement de 'grafting' regardez ici l'exemple d'Hermes (foulard de soie et tricot)

linkings

just a thought.....

Linking and tacking are involved in the finishing process. Linking is where the end of a quality scarf is secured or where the panels of a sweater are joined together. This is a stitch-for-point operation where a skilled operator picks each sequential stitch of knitted fabric onto the points on the dial of a linking machine and then the machine makes a linking chain, using cashmere yarn, along the line of the stitches. The ends of the linking chain are then hand tacked to stop it from unravelling and the pieces are now ready for washing.
Example sentence:

The linkers carefully line up the stitches on the front and back of each toe before stitching them together. This is a highly skilled operation that takes several months to learn.
