English term
NO regular medications (NO medications (TO BE) taken on a regular basis)
English to German
Medical
Medical: Pharmaceuticals
Phrase
Actually it is a question concerning my native language – this is Polish.
Context- discharge summary or/ and Arztbericht.
The patient takes no regular medications due to chronic diseases/ conditions etc. It means- he/ she does not need to take any medications for the rest of his/her life. This information is included in a medical/ doctor’s report.
I would like to ask, in particular the German native speakers, whether the term – ‘Dauermedikation’ in such contexts, this is in discharge summaries/ medical reports/ patient’s history etc. is used in Germany.
There is a discussion on the Polish forum regarding this issue. I basically disagree with ‘Dauermedikation’ since it generates ambiguity and secondly- Medikation has (or am I wrong?) additional connotations.
In addition- we are talking about medication-S/ drug-S; so I doubt whether Dauermedikation-EN could be the right translation.
Thanks in advance

...obwohl ich der Meinung bin, dass "Dauermedikation" hier durchaus verwendet werden kann, wäre die wörtlichere Übersetzung hier eine gute Lösung.

: yes, it's safer not to go with Dauermedikation, which is long-term/life-long medications in EN

"Medication" definitely refers to (pharmaceutical) drugs and not to physiotherapy, radiation therapy etc.
I think you should find out first if it is only about taking drugs or also other medications since it is in my opinion correct what you pointed out: "Medikation has (or am I wrong?) additional connotations. "
So if it is only about medication I would suggest ": Keine regelmäßige Medikamenteneinnahme".
If it is about drugs and treatments I would say: "Keine regelmäßige Einnahme von Medikamenten oder Durchführung medizinischer Behandlungen"
For your information: I am no medical expert.
Claudia
"bis auf weiteres"?
But in your specific context it may be correct nevertheless, i.e. a drug the patient is expected to take until further notice.

"Regelmäßige Einnahme eines oder mehrerer Medikamente, solange die Krankheit, die behandelt werden muss, besteht (s. Stufenplan)."
