Well, it's an accounting entry which does not impact the purchases/sales accounts or the goods accounts. An example would be a trader selling part of his fixed assets (e.g. a motor vehicle) against cash. This transaction would not impact the purchases/sales accounts but only the fixed assets and the cash accounts. In German this is called warenneutrale Buchung.
