Russian term

предлагаемый

Russian to English Law/Patents Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng patent
as in: предлагаемые соединения

Is the highly frequent word "предлагаемый" in the current patent I am working on being used in the sense of "according to the invention" here.

I guess I need to know whether it is acceptable Russian to convey "according to the invention" as "proposed."

What say you?

Yngve Roennike (asker) Dec 3, 2014:
I actually went ahead and posted the same question in the opposite language direction, which may be more appropriate:

what about the contex... it might be even "given"...
Yngve Roennike (asker) Dec 1, 2014:
I appreciate all the input, but somehow the greater point is being missed. Is it the standard way in Russian to say xxxx according to the invention or is it rather unusual? Tks for addressing that specific point only.
Yngve Roennike (asker) Dec 1, 2014:
The reason I am asking is that a corresponding WO patent uses "according to the invention" every time the RU patent uses "proposed." So if someone thoroughly familiar with how patent apps are drawn up in Russia could tell me if these two expressions are equivalent, I'd be grateful or if there is indeed a difference.

I hope I understood your question.

*According to* would be something like в соответствии с, but never предлагаемый.

btw, you could also say: compounds (соединения) in question.

You have asked for предлагаемые соединения.
Now, the translation is 'claimed substances' or 'substances claimed hereunder'.

Yes, certainly, it follows from my first note. The described substance is automatically the claimed one.

Sorry, I've missed one of your points. Yes, you may use 'substances according to the present invention' instead of 'the disclosed substances' or 'the substances applied for', but then the Russian text may suddenly change to 'в соответствии с настоящим изобретением", and you'll have to translate it using the same expression. So I suggest 'claimed (or disclosed) substances'.
Note from asker:
Would that not be rendered as: заявленная формула изобретения instead?
But I meant, "claimed" would that not be заявленный as in the phrase I just provided?
So if they are equivalent, which I take you mean, which is more prevalent of the two: 'substance в соответствии с настоящим изобретением or предлагаемый substance?
