Maybe But the whole trouble is that we don't know the context. Archaeology covers a whole lot of possibilities and it may or may not be a context in which cobblestones would occur, whether in wedge formations or otherwise.

Contexto Necesitamos más información: la frase entera en la que ocurre, alguna frase antes y después, todo lo que puedas decirnos sobre qué tipo de restos arqueológicos, qué estructuras, en qué país, en qué tipo de yacimiento... No es un término habitual y hay varias cosas que podría significar.
