Kolegovia, dostal som na preklad maturitné vysvedčenie do EN a dosť zvažujem, ako mám preložiť názov skúšky. V zásade mám štyri možnosti:
1. Môžem použiť Certificate of Maturita Exam podľa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maturita alebo http://spectator.sme.sk/articles/view/50407/2/language_certi...
2. Môžem použiť Certificate of Matura Exam podľa Googlu (aj tej stránky vo Wiki)
3. Môžem sa pokúsiť o analógiu a dať General Certificate of Education Advanced Level
4. Môžem skúsiť nejaký novotvar typu High School Exit Exam Certificate
Vopred ďakujem za akékoľvek názory a nápady.

Certificate of Matura/high school graduation certificate
In English, we use Abitur and baccalauréat and everyone immediately knows what is at issue. I think Matura has also gained traction in recent years. In a long-winded report I would stick to Matura/maturita, the question is whether this is suitable for the translation of a simple certificate. Mind you, I also translate gymnnázium, where possible, as, well, gymnnázium or Gymnasium (not grammar school).
“Much like British A-levels or European Matura, the baccalauréat allows French and international students to obtain a standardised qualification, typically at the age of 18. “
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baccalauréat
“In the Slovak Republic, gymnázium is one type of schools that provide secondary education… All of them lead to the maturita exam.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnasium_(school)
To avoid country-specific terms, you could use the generic “high school graduation certificate” or “school-leaving certificate”
“Equivalent high school graduation certificate in other countries”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abitur
“It is the only school-leaving certificate in all states of Germany that…”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abitur
If the client wants a country-specific translation as per the other answers proposed, I wouldn’t demur.

General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (A Levels)
Note from asker:
Ďakujem. Má to svoju logiku, len potom potrebujem nejako preložiť aj samotnú maturitnú skúšku (napríklad v texte Maturitnú skúšku vykonal alebo Predseda školskej maturitnej komisie) a tiež zvážiť, či môžem použiť skratku GCE A-lel, aby sa mi to vošlo do formulára. |

Matura (A levels or High School Diploma)
It all depends on the target audience and context. In the UK school leaving certificate would be understood as GCSEs (taken at 16), so you would need to be specific and say A levels. In the US High School Diploma would be the equivalent. I would state the name Matura and then put the equivalent.
