Najczęstszymi uszkodzeniami są: wybuksowania, zagłębienia, rysy, łuszczenie blaszkowate i wady spoin. Uszkodzenia te przyspieszają
degradację przytwierdzeń, podkładów i podsypki. Istnieje kilka metod ich wykrywania.
Najprostszą jest diagnostyka wizualna. Zadowalające wyniki daje pomiar przyspieszeń mas
nieusprężynowanych. Liczne uszkodzenia powierzchniowe mogą być naprawiane techniką
spawalniczą.

RAIL SURFACE DEFECTS – GENESIS AND THEIR POSSIBLE
REPAIR USING WELDING TECHNIQUES
ABSTRACT. The implementing over the past three decades new railway cars and their stiffer suspension have caused rail surface defects to appear in greater frequency than in the past. The most common defects are: engine burns, squats, head checks, shellings and defective welds. It is obvious that rail surface defects lead to faster degradation of fastenings, sleepers and ballast. A few detection methods of these defects exist. The most
simplest is visual inspections. Satisfactory results are obtained from measurement of accelerations of the vehicle unsprung mass. A lot of rail surface defects can be repaired by welding techniques.
