This unit represents the first of a package of training materials directed towards supporting modern approaches to
learning and teaching for an Faculty of Medicine. The materials aim to use a body accumulated theory to
inform the educational practice of learning and teaching, which in turn will help to initiate strategies for faculty and professional development.

Ultimately, the cultural changes and quality improvements in both learning and teaching, and faculty effectiveness, will
have an impact on the healthcare service. The cycle of improvements through transformational change, should
develop a capacity for continuous quality improvements in all the three domains: faculty development, the student experience and a quality experience for the patient.
