French term

espace forme

French to English Marketing Tourism & Travel tourism text/Restaurant business
This term appears in a description about a restaurant:

'Entrez dans l’espace forme et appréciez la douceur de vivre.'

The sentence that precedes it is: Sur les bords de la Bruche dans un parc superbement fleuri, une auberge à l’abri des étoiles, où convivialité, luxe et simplicité cohabitent et où la cuisine a un accent du terroir très prononcé.

I'm not sure whether it could mean stylish, perhaps there is a more accurate term?

Many thanks

Discussion

Louise Etheridge (asker) Mar 6, 2014:
Hi Debora, I've given the sentence that appears in the text before. I can't say for sure that this in relation to the restaurant. From the answers provided and looking at the sentence again, it seems that it belongs to the building at a whole...
Debora Blake Mar 6, 2014:
Une auberge is not "just" a restaurant. Can you confirm that "espace forme" pertains specifically to a restaurant?

It's not just a restaurant, it's got a spa too!

agree Tony M : Right! Now we at last have proper context, this makes the most sense!

Thanks Tony
agree Debora Blake : Exactly what I suspected when asking for more info. ;-)

Thanks Debora
neutral B D Finch : The word "spa" is used in the next sentence, so something different is required here.// You did, because I found the source text for you.

Having found your source text, it is obvious that you needed to post the following sentence: "Un tout nouvel espace Spa ..."

neutral JaneD : This was my first thought, but it seems to be more about spa treatments than fitness as such?

Some people seem to have a gentle take on what is required for fitness! However, they might get the exercise from swimming.
disagree Debora Blake : Agree with JaneD. Since it's apparently spa, "fitness centre" is too limiting.

The word "spa" is used in the next sentence, so something different is required here.
agree MatthewLaSon : You're indeed right in saying that you can't use the same word twice. People have a tendency to not consider this fact when answering. I think "fitness centre" is fine.

fitness suite

In the absence of more context...

'suite' may be a bit pretentious, you really need to research this establishment and find out exactly what is involved; might just be a 'room', or then again, a 'gym' or even maybe including a 'spa centre' (sauna, jacuzzi, etc.)

Clearly, working on the basis of insufficient context, this answer is now not right.

Just goes to show once again how vital it is to have PROPER context from the outset!

This inn sits on the banks of the Bruche river, set in a park with magnificent flowers. Here you will find a friendly and luxurious yet simple ambience, and a cuisine with a strong emphasis on regionally produced pproducts. The health spa, with its sauna, hammam and pool, is perfect for relaxation.

agree Tony M : Just a shame it's not a better translation! I hope Louise can do better ;-) / Indeed — and also often a thing the non-native source thinks they can do themselves, with often hilarious (or dire) results.

finding a decent tourism translation is hard nowadays. it's yet one of those 'everyone (thinks they) can do it' fields, unfortunately. I've seen worse than the one here. It's just not very 'marketing'. /sadly some target lang.natives don't do much better.
