meanwhile, elsewhere
On the basis of the context you have given, I think this could work as a heading.
Note from asker:
I kind of like it but I can't use it. IMHO it is perhaps too narrative, much more appropriate to a fairy-tale, short story or so. But thanks anyway! |
After a few days of contemplating over the whole text I actually changed my mind. Thank you! |

window onto the world
the obvious phrase in English is “window onto the world”
You can adapt it, e.g. “window on the world around”

Note from asker:
Thanks, Stuart. I guess I am looking for something more "creative" or catchy :) But if nothing else pops up, I will gratefully use your suggestion :) |

Václav Pinkava
: certainly idiomatic and close to the Czech, whose diminutive inspective aspects could be suggested by using "porthole" instead of window, perhaps?

peep hole on the world
kdyby bylo to okénko ještě o něco menší
jen nápad...
třeba to "natives" okomentují tak, že to vlastně není k použití

of course, 'glancing abroad' could be 'a glance abroad','the world at a glance' etc. it really depends on the style of writing, point of view and an attitude.

Asi bych to tedy nějak podle kontextu ještě vylepšila, třeba "a peek at the trends abroad"....nebo také "a glimpse at the trends abroad" atd. ... to "glimpse" se mi líbí trochu víc :)
