eats nothing per os (per orem)

In my Danish medical dictionary, I have written the abbreviation p.o down as meaning Latin "per os". The usual (UK) English phrase is "nil by mouth", although that is also often an instruction above a patient's bed rather than a description. Can also say "nothing per orem"
Example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nil_per_os
Other examples are on Google.

per oral

Just a guess.
Note from asker:
Thanks, it looks as if you are right - I have found it contrasted with IV (though not in this text).
