Drop out rate
From the context, the authors are talking about subjects who did not complete all aspects of the study, and therefore the data is incomplete, or possibly biased (also known as dropout/attrition bias, but that wouldn't fit your sentence).

: unless the text is addressed specifically to a scientific public, I would use drop out rate as it is clear and straightforward. Always keep it simple and accessible to as many readers as possible.
