Es handelt sich um Container, die beim Transport beschaedigt wurden:
Schaeden an der Lackierung, meistens im Bereich der Eckpfosten und an den unteren Querstreben sowie an den Aufnahmestuecken.
"female parts" sound funny, no?
Thanks in advance!

Locking slots
looks to be what you need; like a hole with a wider space inside, so that the "twistlock" can drop in and be twisted by 90° and lock the container to the spreader for lifting. The spreader is the (often extendable)girder frame suspended from the straddle-carrier to lift 20-, 30- or 40-foot containers. The straddle-carrier is like four giant vertical pipes on wheels joined at their tops by the driver's cab underneath which is the spreader, and which can straddle the row of containers.

These holes are on the top corners of containers, therefore only visible from above. There are also holes in the underfloor of containers to fit on lugs on container lorries, so that if the lorry hits an obstacle, the container doesn\'t try to carry on going at 100 km/h, and remove the driver\'s cab.... or there used to be anyway.

: Good for a laugh...but seriously, while it is a female part, I assume it means the bits where the forklift prongs go in to lift the thing.
