French term

SEEC, SEEc, S.E.C

French to English Medical Medical: Cardiology abbreviations
3 different abbreviations, I THINK for the same thing. But what the heck is it?
Context is non-invasive cardiac surgery. Here are some sentences.

Depart extubé avec la S.E.C cousue a la peau.
SEEc en place et fonctionnelle
SEEC a 70 au retour
Ablation de SEEC ce jour: compressif femoral en place
Est a J1 de l'ablation de la SEEC par voie femorale.

If nobody knows the English, I'll give points for telling me what the abbreviation stands for in French (if it is French).

rkillings Apr 27, 2013:
not "non-invasive" Very clear from the first line of context you quote that this part is at best "minimally invasive".

The French acronym is the right one. Temporary (cardiac) pacing catheter may be a better wording in English as indicated tardively below.
Note from asker:
That seems to nail the French, at least, and fits with the extra context I added in a note to abe(L)solano
Peer comment(s):

neutral Claire Knell : Would 'temporary pacing electrode catheter' not be better - less of a literal translation?

Probably Claire.
disagree Chris B. Teszler, MD, PhD, FIFAO : Don't cite French authors (= all but authoritative sources of English med.terminology, especially when transliterating like here). Correct: temporary (cardiac) pacing: 1.wire (or lead, or electrode), or 2.catheter; the wire and catheter are not the same!

I will definitely cite French authors when they are correct. They often know better than non medical native speakers.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Chris B. Teszler, MD, PhD, FIFAO : The two cited alternative expansions of the asked acronyms would be welcome elsewhere, but have nothing to do with the context of cardiac electrophysiology (i.e., temporary cardiac pacing, in particular) that was clearly stated by the original asker.

I think the "right" term is temporary peacemaker catheter since it implies that is a stimulating device, and of course, its placed via the femoral vein.

I don´t know if it's correctly a "transient pacemaker" in English

It could be simply "sonde extra-cardiaque"
