Italian term
Lampade e gelatine
Italian to English
Art/Literary
Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
terminology
This is my last but one question... And the explanation is still the same... A friend of mine asked me to translate a few terms of the movie-makers world from Italian into English. I've nearly done them all, but there are two or three I am not sure of, and I'd love to ask for your help. This one, for example: would it be "Lamps and Frosts"?
Look forward to a reply and thank you again in advance,
Cindy.

Selected
spotlights and (colour) gels
They are used for stage lighting and are sold in sheets. They are cut to fit the light fixture, in most cases, a spotlight or DJ lighting rig.
After cutting to the appropriate size, they are placed between two plates (also known as lighting plates which slide into the spotlight to "filter" the light, making it the desired colour.

Aside from the references, I used to deal in lighting so I am quite confident.

Oh, and it just occured to me, the lighting plates in which the gels are put into are also even referred to as gel frames.
