This is just in a list of trees found in the Andes of Colombia. it is listed as "platero (Freziera reticulata)."
Another kudoZ entry lists platero as sycamore or plane tree, but I need to know if this is what is meant by this term in Colombia, specifically. Also, I can't find any references that put the latin name together with sycamore or plane tree.
Thanks for your help!

The Latin species is known as "cerezo" or "caimo". Perhaps "platero" is local but it seems safest to ignore it.
Also Google "Scheweilera antioquensis (olla de mono), Freziera reticulata (cerezo)"

Comment: "I decided to keep platero with the Latin name in parentheses as in the original, but it might be helpful to have this entry in the glossary, to save someone else a lot of time hunting for a name that doesn't exist."
