It is much more common with bodily forms than capillary (nearly put "hairy"!) ones. Most web searches with galbe/galbé + caroube + cheveux show exactly the sentence in the Asker's extract and lead to the same product. An unusual but no doubt deliberate choice!

AS it is in the same sentence as volume, then it makes sense to read it as Emma suggests. Caroube/galbe searches all refer to the same product where volume, and indeed smoothness are part of the result obtained!
