General interest program
Although predominantly equated with educational programs, the term "General Interest Program" (or Series) seems to be used as-is by both foreign and national media companies in Radio and Television (Corus Entertainment in Canada, for example) to describe some of it's Adult (meaning intellectual) programming. See references. Hope that helps!
