Hello.

I've looked at the glossary. But I'm not sure on how to translate "départ" here.

but in practice, 'output' is usually all you need, unless there is some specific need to differentiate; it's a subtle technical point...

Whereas 'outgoing feed' is perhaps slightly more the notion of 'something that is leaving to go somewhere else'. The distinction is very grey, and soemtimes even reversed, but in any given situation, one might sound more 'right' than the other.

Thank you for writing back. Yes, it's true I'm not respecting the procedure. I accept that. But I'm fighting with a truly shoddily written CCTP and I think the bloke who wrote it might have had a shandy or two before starting to do his bit of the document. The French is chronic and I'm struggling to find Google Hits.
I've got so many terms I'm not sure about and I've been on it for literally the last 24 hours.
Fortunately ProZ exists and there are some very sound translators who answer questions.

It's just that the KudoZ asking guidelines do recommend us to state what suggestions we have considered and/or rejected, and it is a bit more 'powerful' to state what you DO know, and then ask for confirmation or explanation or the opposite, than simply to throw your question out into the winds. Sometimes, if I don't have time to answer properly, or look up past glossary entries, if the asker says "I have found, X, Y, and Z, but I'm not sure which it should be", then it is quick and easy for me to help you choose (especially if you give the URLs of the glossary entries you have found), rather than expecting me to go to all the trouble of hunting for them. If you want the best help, then it's worth making the task as easy as possible for those who might be able to help you ;-)
I feel pretty confident about my answer, though am always diffident about giving c/l 5; certainly, these are the terms I have been using for years for a number of major customers in the field, and so far I've had no feedback to the contrary.
