Stiamo parlando di quando Giacobbe lasciò andare Beniamino insieme ai suoi fratelli in Egitto per comprare del grano durante la carestia che aveva colpito il paese. La presenza di Beniamino era stata richiesta da Giuseppe, il fratello venduto qualche anno prima come schiavo e finito in Egitto per poi diventare vicerè e amministrare le risorse durante la carestia. Beniamino era dunque la prova che i figli di Giacobbe fossero uomini sinceri (true men), che mantenessero la parola data.
