Danish term

monodepot

Danish to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals type of tablets
Tabletter (monodepot) er fremstillet således, at [aktivstoffet] frigøres langsomt

These are otherwise ordinary coated tablets, to be swallowed, taken with water etc. etc. with groove for breaking and so on.
Most of the active ingredient is absorbed in the gastro-intestinal tract.

Not capsules, gastro-resistant or anything like that.
I can only find this term in Danish, and have not found enough explanation to start searching in English.

Earlier references to the tablet in Produktresuméer and the like do not seem to use this expression.

So many thanks for any suggestions!

Discussion

Christopher Schröder Mar 13, 2012:
As I understand it, in English a polydepot is called a MUPS whereas a monodepot is just a sustained release tablet or whatever. So you could maybe put "(non-MUPS)" or just miss it out.

single unit

Going on Chris S's discussion contribution, I googled "single unit pellet system" (i.e. SUPS) and got the following which you could peruse:

Peer comment(s):

agree Christopher Schröder : (though I still feel we wouldn't bother specifying this as it's the default)

Point taken, Chris - but wouldn't it also be the default in the original? If they have thought it necessary to specify "monodepot", who are we to decide that it shouldn't be translated?
Something went wrong...
