PLANNING THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PILLAR
A step 0 of planning is necessary, because good planning makes for successful execution.
The first thing to take into account is detailed planning of each one of the steps in implementing Autonomous Maintenance.
The objectives defined for this step are:
Structuring the pillar
Evaluating the data collection systems
Defining the plan to launch the teams
Training those involved in AM
Creating awareness of the importance of AM
Developing an auditing system
Developing a results reporting system
Designing a knowledge system by step change
Objectives for machines and workers:

Organise the workplace
For the workers:
Understanding the meaning of autonomous maintenance
Learn the work methodology of AM teams

I don't believe so. A "pilot" project is a test or initial project. I think that in referring to pillars, they are talking about the structure of the organisation. Whereas people used to talk about "chains of command" and "hierarchies", now they like to talk about frameworks and the principles and structures that support the frameworks and the projects they are meant to support. Let's see if someone else has more input!

Note from asker:
Hi Jenni, could it mean "pilot"? A pilot project was mentioned earlier in the document. |

Pillar
Using a "pillar concept" for business development and improvement is quite common. Please find a few examples of this in the reference URL's.
Generally 'pillar' refers to the structure, unlike the foundation, which in most cases, regarding an idea, program, a model, etc. (the foundation) is in already place.
The pillar(s) are the bullet points, the main ideas or the framework for the project, business, methodology, or whatever is being devised or improved upon.

Example sentence:
"A definition of ecosystem management based on the seven pillars is: "The application of ecological and social information, options, and constraints to achieve desired social benefits within a defined geographic area and over a specified period."
