The language and visual regions/areas of the brain

I would say that there would be a choice here between the terms "region" and "area".
Example sentence:

"Dax had noted LANGUAGE AREA phenomena as early as..."

"Lesions of the lateral and basal temporal lobe therefore tend to disconnect the VISUAL REGION from the limbic system."

Thank you.
agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : Area would be my preference. Brodmann areas are still referred to by neuroscientists : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brodmann_area. For language the Wernicke and Broca areas are commonly used terms. Regions are made of of "aires".
