French term
désockettage
French to English
Tech/Engineering
Nuclear Eng/Sci
**DESOCKETTAGE ** ET DÉPOSE DU TRONCON DE LIGNE D'ÉVENT.
This is the heading of a chapter
The word is also used further in the text in another heading
**Désockettage** de la tuyauterie
I'm imagining it is something like unplugging but I would like to check whether anyone has any knowledge of this word as I can't find it anywhere.
The text is a nuclear power plant manual.
Thanks!

DESOCKETTAGE
Selected
removal or socket welding at end of pipe
Nuclear industry uses socket welding at end of pipes for various structural reasons (seismic resilience, permanent sealing...)
"Socketing" is the operation of socket welding the ends of pipes, unsocketing is the reverse, hence the "google-French" "désockettage", I posted the full meaning, probably "unsocketing" will be shorter but at least you know why
