Discussion

Jan Schauseil (asker) May 10, 2011:
A gantry rests on the ground by definition. A 'teknikbrygga' is suspended under the ceiling.

gantry

I would call it a gantry.

I am no specialist in this field, but you might be able to use it, and I think it would be understood.

There are ceiling gantries, but a lot seem to be heavy-duty for cranes.

Come to think of it, I had a ´raft´ with lighting in an earlier job. But that was not a 'bridge' structure. It was a rectangular box-shaped structure suspended from the high ceiling to bring variable lighting (spots or diffuse strip lighting as required) closer to goods displayed in a shop.
Peer comment(s):

agree Christopher Schröder : I think gantry works here, otherwise something with rigging perhaps

Thanks! You had better suggest rigging as a separate answer of your own, I think!
