Spanish term

PD

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Oncology
It sounds to me like "secondaries" or "metastases". The patient has thyroid cancer and the hospital report speaks of: PD hepática y adenopática, PD osea esternoclavicular and so on.
Thank you in advance.

Renita.

Well, to me this is not clear at all and I would be reluctant to vote for any of the suggestions. Cop out maybe, but as a translator I would put a footnote, with possibilities listed. I could not be 100% sure about any of the suggestions.

Here's the link where I clarified my doubts regarding "PD" in spanish:

Yasser El Helw (asker) Jan 12, 2011:
There is not much more than what I told you. Only that these were excised. This is why I assumed they were metastases. I came across this "PD" before and I went for Emma's option, not this time.
Joseph Tein Jan 12, 2011:
With Liz Hola Yasser. It looks like you've gotten the answer you need, below, but I want to also emphasize that it really helps to get the complete sentence where your source term is found, as well as the preceding and following sentence(s) to make the overall picture clearer. Saludos for the new year :)
liz askew Jan 12, 2011:
Hello there!
Kindly provide the Spanish sentence before and after the text. Do you have details of the stage of the thyroid cancer, ie. has it just been diagnosed, or is this patient receiving/has received chemo/treatment?
liz askew Jan 12, 2011:
Kindly provide the sentence before and after in Spanish.
Is the cancer terminal do you know? Or has it just been diagnosed at an early stage?

PD

PD = progressive disease

Quite a common abbreviation in English so maybe it is being used as such in a Spanish report.

Surveillance radiographic imaging is usually performed frequently to detect progressive disease (PD)
