German term

Kernschatten

German to English Medical Medical (general) oncology, gynecology
This is a type of shadow shown in mammographies indicating possible cancer. I have this direct quote from German medical report:
"Keine Kernschatten, keine suspecten Kalzifikationen."

Is there an English equivalent for this term? I have done google searching in English but have not yet found any exact equivalent.

Thanks,

Stephen

Another option.
There are many references.
Example sentence:

Mammographic Signs. Dominant mass: Dense shadow

agree SJLD : I think this is closest - was thinking more along the lines of "hyperdensity"

core shadow

The nonhomogeneity of the core shadow is a fairly reliable indicator of invasive ductal carcinoma. A completely homogeneous carcinoma signifies complete intratumoral desmoplasia or necrosis.
