Skilled leader of the art? From listening to the first link and reading the second one, I believe a singer would be considered a Master based on his skilled knowledge of the ancestral art and his ability to teach the tradition to the newer generations, not his virtuostic skills, necessarily. It also seems to me that it is based on a concept of hierarchy and seniority. From the last link posted in the discussion: The head staff includes: Head Man Dancer..., Head Woman Dancer..., Master of Ceremonies ... and Arena Directors....

Con todo esto... ..ya no me decanto tanto por "imitador" porque no lo hacen. Maestro intérprete, quizá. Me gusta la idea de "consagrado cantante/intérprete" pero puede ser que "consagrado" tenga demasiados matices religiosos.

Y ahora he estado escuchando algunas de las grabaciones, y sé menos que antes - imaginaba que iban a ser sonidos parecidos a los pájaros (a mis oídos, al menos). Serán imitaciones simbológicas de pájaros? Que nos rescate alguien de esa zona de EEUU! Please!

Pero sigo perpleja. Lo único que he estado viendo documentos que hacen referencia a la posición social de un gran imitador de pájaros en ciertas sociedades nativo-americanas.

Lo siento Jairo pero todo me parece muy raro. Un virtuoso de la imitación de los cantos de los pájaros se llamaría a "singer of bird songs" a mi juicio. ¿O estamos en una cultura un tanto distinta?
