German term

bilanzielle Neuregelung zur Umsatzrealisierung

German to English Bus/Financial Accounting
I have to summarize a German newspaper article in English and hope someone can help me out with this sentence:

"Die geplante bilanzielle Neuregelung nach den internationalen Standard IFRS zur Umsatzbilanzierung (Revenue Recognition) stößt [...] auf harsche Kritik."

So far this is my draft:
The new accounting rules according to the international IFRS standard for revenue recognition are highly criticized by [...].

I am not sure if I have simplified this too much.
Thanks for your suggestions

Ted Wozniak Nov 3, 2010:
Go even simpler Since it's journalistic text, I'd go even simpler in English. "international" is redundant when combined with IFRS and you don't need the "nach den" either.

The IFRS standard's proposed new rules for recognizing revenue/revenue recognition are ...

Or

The new accounting rules on revenue recognition under the IFRS exposure draft are ...
Inge Luus Nov 3, 2010:
I would add "planned" to your English sentence as this appears to be another new IFRS regulation in the making. Would that match your context? In this case, there is not much to simplify in this sentence.

revision of accounting rules on/governing revenue recognition

Or something very similar to this. There's no set translation for a sentence like this, so the best idea is probably to check through original English comments on the joint IASB/FASB exposure draft of the standard to replace IAS 11 and IAS 18. Details here:

However, I would recast your translation to read something like this:

The exposure draft of the proposed new IFRS accounting standard governing revenue recognition has been fiercely criticised...
