Se trata de un tipo de sección o artículo en una revista, según deduzco del contexto, pero no sé cómo se puede traducir al español:

We examine some of these factors through articles in this issue of XXX, by looking at a cross section of topics across the cash management space. Some of these directly review the means by which greater productivity and customer engagement can be achieved through the introduction of automation technologies. Enfoque In the earlier issue I traslated Panel focus for "Enfoque", thus avoiding my problem with "panel". In the English>Portuguese pair they propose the translation "panel de discusión", because they maintain there is a kind of discussion of issues, but I tend not to agree, here there is just experience sharing, always in the form of interviews.

Panel Focus In an earlier issue there was a similar section called "Panel Focus", with this content: Four industry professionals provide insight into their different approaches to customer engagement.
So, I see Panel usually refers to a section where different persons share their views on something. For example, the subheading said:
We asked four industry professionals from different geographies to provide an insight innto some of the ways they are tackling the challenges evident in delivering the optimum model.
(This was in a previous issue).

Explanation of terms Panel makes reference to the type of press where the article you are translating will be published, magazine, broadsheet, tabloid, among others.
Piece makes reference to one piece of news.
