Discussion

Juan Vilca Nov 13, 2009:
It seems to me, whatever the actual contents or ingredients, Simon's entry would be the safest most useful choice.
Lisa McCarthy (asker) Nov 13, 2009:
- Ok - this appears in an Excel list of dishes from Catalan restaturants. It doesn´t specify whether it is a starter, main or dessert so there's no other useful pointers on this one I'm afraid.
Juan Vilca Nov 13, 2009:
A lot depends on what type of cuisine this is. Is it by chance a chinese menu? If it is, then "emperor's" this and "emperor's" that is a very frequent appearance; and Mil Hojas or Mille Feuille is a type of pastry, and though typically it's sweet, the filling could be pretty much anything. The best thing for that is to use Mill Feuille, which is recognized widely.
Simon Harris Nov 13, 2009:
A Fishy Business I found this
http://dhanggitskitchen.blogspot.com/2008/01/sweet-salty-lov...
so it appears that Mille Feuille can be savoury or sweet!
And it depends where it appears on your list - main course or dessert?
Simon Harris Nov 13, 2009:
Sorry I saw a fish reference somewhere else - now I've lost it!!!
Simon Harris Nov 13, 2009:
The Mille Feuille entry refers to fish, so swordfish looks likely
Kathleen Misson Nov 13, 2009:
I think simon is right. Maybe it has nothing to do with fish. Does it come under a fish section in the menu?
Kathleen Misson Nov 13, 2009:
Swordfish Yes you are right. Emperor is swordfish. It is commonly called emperor in Australia that's why I though of that.

Lisa McCarthy (asker) Nov 13, 2009:
Del emperador On second thoughts, if it were 'swordfish' wouldn´t they put 'de' as opposed to 'del'? Or maybe no article?
Lisa McCarthy (asker) Nov 13, 2009:
emperador Does 'emperador' refer to 'swordfish' or 'an Emperor'? I presume it must, as there wouldn´t be much substance to the dish otherwise.

Emperor's Crispy Rice Mille Feuille

Milhojas is mille feuille (the French always take biscuit on cooking terms!)

I'm sure you can creative about the rest!! :-)

Buen provecho!

agree alidalc : I would go with "Imperial" instead of "Emperor's".

Thanks, alidac - imperial would also solve the problem of not knowing whether it's sweet or savoury!!!
agree Juan Vilca : If it's a chinese menu, I'd stay with Emperors
