In parables, all the stress falls not upon detail, but upon the lesson which the parable is to teach. Our Lord's parables were brief, and ***pointed***, but that is not the case with Genesis. Our Lord's parables led to a message: Genesis puts stress upon detail and leads to no message as do parables.
