English term
Chicano

I have a list in an Ethnic Code specification
"Is the applicant Hispanic?
Mexican/ Mexican American/ Chicano"
I am very familiar with all the terms and can Google & wikipedia the terms all I want, but the only explanation for Chicano comes up as Mexican American (but that one is already listed).
My question is, is "Chicano" used in Polish language as a word to specify an ethnic group? Or should I just skip it all together and use only Mexican American?
Thank you for any suggestions...

don´t translate it...is a term
Chicano/Xicano (feminine Chicana/Xicana) is a word that derives from Nahuatl originally used to describe outcasts of the Mexica empire. The term began to be widely used during the Chicano Movement amongst mainly Mexican Americans, but it now, according to Gabriela Alcazar, expands to include all people who believe in, and are in the struggle for the self-determination of all Latino people. The terms Chicano and Chicana (also spelled Xicana) were originally used by, and in reference to U.S. citizens of Mexican descent

To Tereska :-) Dzięx. Wiem, ale Mexican American już występuje w tym tekście zaraz przed, więc chyba będę musiała użyć Chicano-for me it is the same crap, but someone of that descent might get pissed :-) Thank you the same :-) M
