When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

Après relecture, il me semble que "saluer" (sous-entend signe le la tête donc je ne mettrais rien après pour éviter des lourdeurs) convient mieux au registre du texte.

A cheval, on salue, tout court. En fait, traditionnellement, un peu à la mode militaire, tu lèves la main à la bombe, tu fais mine de tenir ta visière et tu salues, avec un petit signe de la tête... C'est tout du moins comme ça que j'ai appris, on doit toujours saluer les juges en concours, etc. ;o)
Mais, pour un cavalier, on utilise "saluer", tout court...
