In an article about copper prices, it states:
los precios de los insumos bajos caen en épocas de precios bajos.
Low inputs or low consumables doesn't right to me, does it mean basic consumables? Any suggestions appreciated.

I think possibly there has been a mix-up and the first "bajos" is a mistake which the author forgot to delete

Although "insumos" can mean either "consumables" or "inputs" as you correctly stated, it can also mean "supplies":
Oxford Dictionary
insumos mpl (esp AmL) consumables (pl); insumos agrícolas como semillas y fertilizantes agricultural inputs o consumables such as seeds and fertilizers; un negocio

La diferencia entre un "supply" que es un suministro, es que el insumo aunque también es un suministro se utiliza en el proceso mismo; los insumos son inputs que se procesan y se consiguen outputs.
Ahora los suministros también pueden ser inputs, pero también pueden ser materiales que se relacionan indirectamente al proceso productivo, por ejemplo, papel para cartas, etc.

aunque suena raro es lo que dice en español; se tuviese que leer el artículo completo para entender bien... pero es lo que dice (o al menos entiendo en español) pero veo tu punto....
