I thought "en lo general" was "in general session", but then they mention in "el pleno" and in "lo particular" and now I'm confused. Can someone clear up what

: The word "lo" when it's a direct object can be translated as "it." Otherwise it should be translated as "the." And "in the private" (or "in the general") cannot stand alone without a noun following. And these are not phrases used in government / politics.
